Trendsetting and healthy food preparation with ELAG® cooking appliances
In an intensive 3-year collaboration and test phase with professional chefs, the developers at ELAG have developed the ingenious concept of direct food preparation on glass-ceramic cooking surfaces.
The primary motive was to develop an appliance for a trend-setting cooking process that satisfies today’s modern lifestyle, which demands short cooking times and a healthy, low calorie food preparation. During the search for a rugged, durable and food-neutral material suitable for cooking directly on its surface, an encounter was made with the substance known as glass ceramic. In many test series and with varied chefs and cuisines, the developers became familiar with and learned to appreciate the outstanding qualities of glass-ceramic. This material is perfectly suitable for continuous cooking at high temperatures, is shock resistant to both cold and heat and is characterised by a solid breaking strength.
The surface is virtually free of pores and does not wear away, as in for example pans w. Teflon and other similar chemically coatings. A further big advantage is the cut-resistant surface, i.e. meat can be easily cut and portioned on the cooking surface. By placing the meat directly onto the glass-ceramic cooking surface, without any use of pots and pans, the pores in the meat will be quickly sealed at temperatures above 360° C. Through this, vitamins, minerals and important trace elements cannot escape, or only in slight amounts. These substances are essential for our daily healthy nutrition. Due to this rapid sealing of the pores, and the internal cooking process resulting from it, meat gets more tender and juicy and retains its own natural taste. Thereby, the requirement for additional salt when seasoning can be limited to the absolute minimum.
Due to the smooth glass-ceramic surface, only a very small amount of additional fat is needed for frying and grilling. This has a very positive impact on the healthy and low calorie preparation of meals. In comparison to all other processes, direct cooking on the glass ceramic cooking surface offers huge benefits and a large variety of preparation methods.
ELAG’s ceramic glass grills and cooking appliances are thus eminently suitable for grilling, frying, steaming and even for baking. Steaks, fish, chicken pieces, burgers and sausages, egg dishes, steamed vegetables, crepes and even pizza succeed superbly on ELAG’s cooking devices.Through the use of highly efficient electrical heating elements energy is saved and harmful substances do not escape, such as when grilling on charcoal. Within a few minutes our appliances reach their full temperature and are quickly ready for use. Originally, ELAG developed the new range of “LeMax” electric grills and ceramic glass cooking appliances for professional use. These were used mainly in restaurants, in cafeterias and snack bars, and also by renowned chefs.
Meanwhile, the smaller LeMax electric grill & griddle models are also used with enthusiasm in many households. Due to their splashwater-protected design, the units can also be used without problem for outdoor cooking, when camping or on balconies, where open fires are not allowed.
All models are made of stainless steel and corrosion-protected materials and are therefore designed for a long service life. A further pleasant benefit is the ease of keeping the appliances clean. The time-consuming and grimy scraping clean of baked-on residues from barbecue grills will become a thing of the past. LeMax Grills/Griddles and cooking appliances from ELAG are today known throughout Europe and have become the embodiment of outstanding performance and high-level quality.
